We picked up our race packs today which to my disappointment (though not surprised) contained very little. The only thing we received was the race number with the timing chip on it. I know we don’t run just to get a little bag of goodies but it’s always nice to get samples, and given the size of this race (almost 28000 running in the 5.7k, 10k, 21.1k & 42.2k) and the price tag you’d think you’d get a taster for a few things.
We did take a walk through the expo and picked up some raspberry flavoured Endura energy gels for the marathon. Last year I had two and a third they were giving out. I could have used an extra one or two towards the end. Hopefully, with five I should be right and my tummy will be behaving. I did manage to snap a pic of the map showing the race course.
I’m really excited about tomorrow. My mum is running her first ever 10k! A couple of months ago her and her friend got talking about the Gold Coast Marathon weekend and decided to give the 10km a go. They’ve been meeting up twice a week at the beach for an hour to an hour and a half walk/run session and I think they’re fairly ready to give this race a go. It might be one, or it might be the start of many to come.
