Apologies for the long break but I’ve been busy with moving across continents. After traveling over 20,000km, packing, unpacking and getting over the dreaded jetlag which luckily didn’t last for more than a day I’m ready to get back into the swing of things.
The few days before my departure from Poland I felt horrific. My body was reacting to all the stress and physically I felt ill. Nausea, headaches, chest pains, muscles aches, and stomach pains: stress certainly likes to take its toll on the body. With all that plus worrying about remembering to pack everything, last minute meetings with family and friends, and saying ‘bye for now’ was exhausting.
Three days in Australia and I feel fantastic. I haven’t felt this rested in ages. We’re getting up at about 6:00-6:30am without an alarm clock which is just how I like it. The weather has been perfect which certainly helps things.
This morning at 6am, Jarek, my brother and I left for the beach. They went cycling while I took off for a run. I intended to run easy but the scenery, fresh air and a bit of sprinkling rain motivated me to run further than anticipated. What I love about running on the Gold Coast is that you’re not the only one doing it. There are so many people running, cycling, swimming, and walking every morning that no one looks at you funny. It’s normal to nod and say g’day to people you pass. And what’s even better is that everyone gets out there, from the tweens catching an early morning surf before school starts, the single mother running with a stroller along the esplanade, to the businessman fitting in a cycle before heading for the office, or the retired couple enjoy a morning walk before heading off for breakfast at one of the inviting cafes.
Broadbeach is the place to go for a great workout regardless of your fitness preference, cycle, weight train, run, meet your personal trainer, rollerblade, surf or go for a walk. Here, everyone seems to be doing something active.
Training: 55 minute run
