* Running the Simpson Desert
Jane Trumper, ultra runner and first women in Australia to run across the Simpson Desert in blistering Aussie heat, finished the 660km run after 10 days on the road.
The route took her from Northern Territory, through South Australia and finally to Queensland. Check out the article here and read about her journey on her blog here.
Fantastic effort from Jane Trumper. Running 660km in 10 days is exceptional, doing it in temperatures of over 30 C is even more amazing. The Australian Outbook can be fierce with not only the heat and the desert but also the reptiles.
* Are you drinking too much?
Normally we worry about getting dehydrated when training and racing but another danger is over hydration. Drinking too much water during a race can lead to exercise-associated hyponatraemia (EAH) causing symptoms such as brain swelling, loss of consciousness and seizures. 660 kms!! Incredible, can’t even imagine doing a fraction of that, never mind in the desert
