Please tell me how is it Easter already? I feel like we just finished celebrating Christmas (we only recently took down our mini Christmas tree).
It’s hard to fathom that we’re at the end of March and into scoffing down far too many Easter eggs, hot cross buns and chocolate. Hot cross buns, I can’t get enough of these, especially when they are gently grilled and smothered in butter.
Fortunately, come Tuesday the shops won’t be selling them till next year. That’s definitely a plus for my waist line, although the thought of freezing a few packets for when a craving hits did cross my mind.
What I’m really excited about is the four day weekend. I love four day weekends. What’s not to love? Two short weeks either side and a lot of time to chill out, train, spend time with family and friends and just be.
Jarek and I started the long weekend off with a bang. The menu for today;
Jarek – the gourmet chef |
thanks to McCafe for a delicious tall long black |
Early morning barefoot run on the beach
BBQ breakfast in the park
Long beach walk along Burleigh Beach
Coffee and chocolate at home with mum
Writing, relaxing and catching up on tv shows
Weight session in the afternoon
Pasta marinara, wine and a good movie on telly
time to fill up our empty stomachs |
The morning was lovely though started with a bit of stress. As we were turning into the street across from the beach, a large group of cyclists were turning from the opposite direction. I’m not sure what one of those cyclists was thinking but his turn was so wide that he rode into our lane and almost right into us. I think our hearts stopped for a moment. Luckily, he reacted quickly and returned to his lane. That just reminded me how important it is to be vigil on the road whether you’re a cyclist, runner, walker or driver. Anything can happen at any moment.
Wishing everyone a happy long weekend this Easter. Stay safe and enjoy the Easter eggs!
