I have to say that I’m fairly pleased with January’s efforts.
Health & Fitness
* Eat 3-5 servings of fruit & vegetables every day
On top of this one I’m definitely eating more fruit and adding more vegetables to my meals. Snacking on fruit between meals, adding carrot & zucchini to cakes, and adding density to sauces with veggies.
* Practice yoga every day for 90 days straight
Not yet. I did one yoga session in January. Poor effort. Definitely something to improve on next month.
* Run 1000km, Cycle 3000km, Swim 150km, Weight train 52 hours, Yoga 156 hours. Walk 200km. Burn 200,000 calories
Lots of walking this month. I haven’t had a chance to swim or cycle yet. I’ve ran a little bit and I’ve started on the yoga and weight training. I may have set the walking goal a little on the low side.
19.99km running (2%)
46.11km walking (23%)
1hr 20min weight training (2.3%)
30 min yoga (0.32%)
4204 calories (2.1%)
* Have a stronger and leaner body post baby than I did pre baby
We’ll see how it goes but I’m continuing my training through pregnancy so I’m on track.
* Try a new recipe every month
On track and loving it. January had me try a creation of carrot & zucchini almond cake. Delicious and gluten free. I also made my first attempt at vegetarian nachos and beef stroganoff. J loved it. I have to admit it turned out better than expected. The other night I made a first attempt at tomato soup. So that’s 3/12 new recipes done and dusted!
* Compete in 6 races : Races I’d like to do in 2014: 2x 5km / 1 x 10km / 1 x 21.1km / 1 x 42.2km / 1 x 400/15/4
Not yet. Probably won’t happen until the second part of the year. The Feb 5k is out, I’m going to be a spectator and support J as he does his 8km fun run.
* Write, sell and have 12 articles published in print or online magazines/blogs
Mmm, what have I done to get closer to achieving this goal? Not much in the first few weeks. What am I afraid of? Failure, success, being laughed at. Seriously, these are all legitimate excuses, not. I submitted 3 queries today! Yay!
Personal
* Attend 12 ToastMasters sessions in my local area
It’s been a busy month. Haven’t gotten around to it yet.
* Write and/or take a photo every day from 1 Jan 2014 to 31 Dec 2014
I’ve been writing and taking photos every day although keeping a record has not been the smoothest. Around 25,000 words written this month.
* Be an attentive mum but not overly protective or overbearing and find balance
Not applicable just yet. I am feeling closer to the baby and I can’t wait to meet him.
* Start a part time business
I’m blogging here and I’ve another one that I’m working on at the moment. I’ve tried monetising and outlining a business plan for a PT business with my better half J.
* Read 52 books
In January I read:
Casino Royal by Ian Fleming
One for the Money by Janet Evanovich
Six Figure Freelancing by Kelly James-Enger
Writing Mama by Christina Katz
0 to Financial Freedom by Steve McKnight
Value Investing in Property by Gavin McPherson
* Return to learning a third language
I did do a bit of Chinese this month, maybe an hour. It’s a start.
* Get our finances in order and invest for the future
Slowly working on this one. The plan is in place now to ensure it becomes practice.
* Finish writing the novel, have it edited, and self publish
Well, I’m surprised to say I succeeded in editing it and now I have a few things I need to add to make it reader ready.
* Focus on one main task each month to achieve all my goals
January was all about working on the novel. Editing and proofreading. I found a few errors and subplots that need working on. I took a lot away and there are a couple of scenes that I need to add to ensure that the novel flows.
