Another year, another battle. It’s State of Origin, game 1.
For those of you unfamiliar, State of Origin, is a best-of-three game of rugby between the state of Queensland and New South Wales or the Blues (NSW) and the Maroons (QLD). Go the Maroons!!!
I won’t get into the nitty gritty of the game, to tell you the truth I don’t completely understand the rules. It’s Rugby. Two teams of grown bulky and strong men running around a field tackling each other. What I do love is the excuse to get together with friend to watch the footy, eat pizza and drink wine. That combo is a once a year thing that only happens on Origin night.
The competition known as ‘state of origin’ has been going on since around the 1980’s with some of the best players in Australia being selected for the teams. It’s emotional, gripping, frustrating and edge of your seat type of stuff. But with origin, like with opera, you either love it or hate it.
The Maroons (QLD) have won the series for the past seven years. It’s a record breaking win that have left Maroon supporters expectant of yet another win. But can we pull it off again this year?
