Euphoric: thatβs the first word that comes to mind after finishing the Gold Coast Marathon today. I think I ran most of the distance with a grin on my face. However, I have to admit, I was in extreme pain for the majority of the race. Pain in my calves and quads started around the 15km mark and continued towards the end. Each time my feet hit the pavement, the throbbing in my legs intensified. I refused to give up though. I played mental games to keep going. With each kilometre it got harder and I got slower but I pushed through and managed to finish my first marathon in 4:04:53. The only thing I’m not happy about is accidentally deleting half of the better photos my brother took at the beginning π

Wow! Way to go! That’s so impressive. Bummer about the pics, though. π I hope you enjoy your post-marathon rest!
I’m so proud of you and I’m so jealous simultaneously. I wish I could run a marathon and reach a new goal – but I know that I can’t do it at the moment π It require a lot of work-out and many hours spend at a gim and for me it’s so difficult to find a spare time for a proper training π Kasiu, I’m so happy that you did and I really congratulate you ! Well done π
Monika
gratulujΔ !!!

@ Su – Thanks Su. Yeah, so not impressed with myself about those pics. Next time I’ll be more careful π
@ Monika – Thanks Monika, I think it’s great that you’ve made running a regular habit. And it doesn’t have to be many hours, three to four times per week for an hour is usually enough. I think you should go for it and try a half marathon than a marathon. Maybe we can do one together when I come visit next year! π
@ Aga – Dzieki Aga π
Good idea π I’ll try to prepare to the Warsaw half maraton and we will run together next year :)Monika
Woo-hoo! That’s great! Congrats to you. Very impressed – especially that you were injured and kept going. Must read your other posts now to see how you recovered!
Thanks Niamh π
