Loving my new ASICS – they are oh so comfy! |
Oh my God, how much do I love running right now? Like lots, lots and lots. I can’t remember the last time I was having so much fun pounding the pavement, feeling the sand sink beneath my toes, the water splash against my ankles. I’m L-O-V-I-N-G running with a capital L.
I’ve been running in a New Balance pair for the past, oh about two years now. They were probably the cheapest (around $70 – yes in Australia that’s cheap, we get screwed when it comes to shopping) and basic pair of runners but they were comfy to run in and I never seemed to have any issues. But having run close to 1000km in them, two marathons, several 5k’s, 10k’s and half marathons, and even the Canberra 70.3 it’s time to retire them. They’ve served me well.
Yesterday, I got myself a pair of rainbow ASICS to brighten up my runs!
a quick rest stop to stretch & enjoy the view |
This morning I started wearing them in with a quick hilly run up Burleigh Point followed by breakfast, coffee and basking in the weekend sunshine. I love the Gold Coast winter. The nights get chilly but the days are oh so warm, with a nice 20 odd degrees in the sun. Loving it.
fresh air and great running path, lots of runners out and about today |
never get tired of this place – Burleigh Point |
On the subject of hills, mmm, I suck. Ok, so they haven’t been included in my training at all so running up Burleigh Point hill to the lookout was a challenge, I ran half way up then walked a bit and ran back down. It hurt. My lungs begged for relief. It was hard. I like when things are hard. Now I’ve got something to work towards – try to run that route at least once per week to conquer the hill and be able to sprint to the top. It won’t happen overnight but it will happen.
Need quick motivation to move butt of chair and run? Go and buy yourself some funky runners and get moving!
A Sunday morning run has to finish with a decent breakfast and a large black coffee. Today, it was courtesy of McDonald’s. While I’m not a fan of fast food, I don’t mind the breakfast menu on the odd occasion. A bacon & egg McMuffin and hash brown with a delicious long black. McCafe know how to make coffee. Who would have thought?
gotta have my morning dose of caffeine – long black. Did I mention how much I love my new ASICS 🙂 I just want to go for another run! |
How has your week been? Are you training for anything special? Loving or hating running?
