Thu – 25 min intervals (4.53km on the treadmill at lunchtime) – main set: 3 x 2min @ 12.5km/hr
Fri – 25 min easy run (4.3km on the treadmill at lunchtime)
Sat – 65 min beach run (10.17km) – this was a tough one. I had a large breakfast in the morning thinking that it would be a few hours before I ran but we ended up going earlier and I thought my food was going to come up through the first 8km – not a good feeling. Lesson learnt: my body cannot handle normal meals before running, sticking with a banana and cup of tea would be enough to sustain my energy levels.
2 x 20 min walk with my darling dog, Kola
Sun – 60 min cycle on windtrainer (21.7km)

I’m happy with my workouts this week. Although mileage was low I stuck close to my plan. I do want to increase the amount of km I run each week, and cycle and swim but doing it slowly will reduce the risk of injury. The downside of this week is that I hadn’t gone for a swim at all and I’m lacking in flexibility work. Something to gradually begin injecting into the schedule.
Last month I mentioned that I wanted to be able to do 15 pull ups by the end of May. I’m not there yet, but at the last check I did 5. Yay. I’m really excited about that, doing just five made me feel strong.
Lots of walking today, we looked through a car boot sale today, followed by the farmer’s market and strolling around Surfers Paradise after a relaxing cup of coffee at one of the cafes across the beach. Being near the sea is becoming addictive.
Today was also the day the Gold Coast Triathlon took place. I did not do it. A couple months ago I decided that I just didn’t feel it. It’s a triathlon that I usually enjoy but something inside was just screaming ‘No!’ I listened to my gut. No point in pressuring myself to do a race just to add it to my list, if I feel like it I can do it next year. No hard feelings.
How’s your training going? Are you training for anything particular at the moment?
