Week in Review + Paddle Boarding

Paddle boarding. I think it’s going to be a new hobby of mine. While I’m not planning on going out to buy a paddle board any time soon (they’re anywhere from $500+ ) I would like to spend weekends hiring one out for a couple of hours and enjoying a few more weeks of the Gold Coast summer. Paddle board hire will set you back around $20 per hour or $30 for two hours. You can even get an hour lesson at $45 per person. The prices quoted are for Tallebudgera Creek. The great thing is they’re available seven days a week.

Paddle boarding is a full body workout. You get a bit of a cardio boost but also work your muscles from your quads, butt, abs, back and arms. Full body workout while you’re having a good time. What more could you ask for on a weekend or weekday morning? Just remember to pile on the sunscreen, it’s very easy to get burnt when you’re out in the water, even more so if you’re skin isn’t used to the sunshine. Remember, slip, slop, slap. Slip on a shirt, slop on the sunscreen and slap on a hat.

Pregnancy Update
27 weeks. Last week of the second trimester. Wow. I can’t believe it. The middle trimester it’s like it was never here. As you can see, my training has been mediocre and focused mostly on walking. I don’t think it’s because I’m pregnant, it’s because I’ve gotten a little lazy, and maybe the laziness is a symptom of the pregnancy. I’m feeling good most of the time, I’m eating more fruit and vegetables and have been avoiding stress. Actually, in general I’ve been a lot calmer than before falling pregnant.

We booked in our antenatal classes for March. We’re doing them privately as the hospital didn’t have any spaces left for the group ones. My fault. I was advised to book them in early, just didn’t realise that early meant at 12 weeks instead of 20!

As of next week our OB appointments are going to be every two weeks. Until now they had been monthly. I’m looking forward to getting a glimpse of my little one more often now.
