I haven’t run since last week. It started snowing – I’m not geared for running in the snow nor where the conditions suitable where I live. It’s been snowing since the weekend. In our yard there is about 30cm of snow, the council workers haven’t gotten around to clearing the snow in many areas around the city and on the outskirts.
Drivers have been stuck in traffic for hours, some even more than twenty; many haven’t seen such a winter in a long time, if ever. Going to the gym would involve driving about 12km in one hour or more.
Here is my partner playing with the dog in the yard – snow, snow and more snow!
Excuses, I know. I hope I stop making them this week and that the weather improves for everyone’s sake. I can’t image how people who don’t have heating or a roof over their head are feeling right now. Few people expected such sudden and crazy weather to begin the winter season.
Today, I didn’t run. I actually had intentions to do lots of exercise at home – but I didn’t. My exercise today involved skipping for 24 minutes outside on the terrace. It was cold but I rugged up and found it quite enjoyable. I’m looking forward to going for a run once the snow clears off the roads and footpaths a bit.
My day did center around food though. I’m kind of enjoying cooking and eating more and more nowadays. Here’s what I had:
Other than that there were also countless cups of tea in between and a little bit of delicious dark chocolate.

On another note, it’s the end of the month and I should review my goals. Truthfully, I didn’t want to do it this month. I hoped not to mention anything about them but that would just be lying to myself. So I took a look… and the results are disappointing.
1 – Run 150km or more – Nope, weather and illnesses stopped me here. Only ran 120km this month.
2 – Complete Warsaw’s Independence Day Run (Bieg Niepodleglosci 11/11) – Yes, I did it and was happy with the result.
3 – Weights 2 x week – I managed to do them once a week.
4 – Pilates/Yoga 1 x week – None at all and my posture and flexibility are suffering.
5 – Stretching 30 minutes x 3 per week – Again, I let myself down here. There’s room for improvement.
6 – Try a new restaurant in the city – Yes, we tried a new sushi restaurant in Warsaw. Yummy!
7 – Cook a delicious 2-3 course meal at home for family/friends – I cooked the main meal and dessert for my partner.
8 – Be a tourist for the day in Warsaw (3 years here and I haven’t done this yet) – Didn’t do this.
9 – Have a boot camp day (run, swim, weights, cycle, boxing, skipping, stretch) – Too lazy this month to this I think
10 – Enjoy a body wrap, full body massage and a pedicure – No. I should definitely get pampered more often.
11 – Do something nice for someone without wanting anything in return – Mm, I can’t think of anything. Disappointing.
12 – Be grateful– A little bit but I’ve been complaining a lot this month and I know I shouldn’t be.
13 – Complete National Novel Writing Month and write a 50,000 word novel (I did it last year and really enjoyed the challenge) This year I didn’t finish it. Only wrote about 10,000 words.
Disappointing effort and there’s definitely lots of room for improvement. I’m not setting any goals for December other than running regularly. I’d like to break 150km in a month so we’ll see what happens.
Wow, is the whole of Europe snowed in? I keep hearing (reading, that is, since it’s FB) moans for help from my friends in Britain. 🙂
It seems that way. The conditions are horrible in Warsaw but it shouldn’t be a surprise considering it is in fact Europe and winter. 🙂
LOL, yeah. There’s an award for you on my blog today!
This weather is nuts. it hasn’t snowed as much here in Dublin as over with you but enough that the country is coming to a stop – and my training has definitely stopped! We did a huge beach-walk yesterday, that was enough exercise for my quads and core trying to stay upright:)
A beach walk sounds wonderful – even in the cold. I miss the Aussie beaches so much.
